First English PEN blog in 86 years!

Today heralds the launch of the first English PEN blog in our 86-year history. From now on, leading writers, journalists and publishers will be blogging here on the challenges facing readers and writers worldwide. PEN's members campaign to promote literature and defend freedom of speech. PEN was founded in London in 1921, and today has centres in more than 100 countries. It is the world's oldest human rights organisation, and the only truly global writers' association. This blog, in tandem with the English PEN site at www.englishpen.org, is set to become a new home for illuminating thought and incisive writing on the future of literature and free speech.
